Trou so...
Die eerste van drie spogfunksies, is in ʼn solderwoonstel in die Kaapse middestad. Aleit dek elke keer een tafel om die styl te demonstreer – in hierdie geval ʼn minimalistiese, gesofistikeerde onthaal. Die kleure is swart en wit met skoon lyne. Die tafel is gedek met baie glas en die borde is vierkantig om ʼn meer moderne gevoel te gee.
Die man in beheer van die blomme, is Alwyn Burger van OKASIE Events. Hy meen ʼn tafel soos dié een vra vir blomme wat byna ongesiens aanvul en nie oorneem nie. Hy gebruik ligblou lampskerms en pak dit vol met varkore. ʼn Orgidee in die middel gee kleur en aksent.
Sarah Malgas van Elsje Designs wat allerlei pragtige papier- en ander detail vir troues en funksies maak. Sy het ʼn perspex kandelaar persoonlikheid gegee deur die name van gaste uit perspex te sny en daaraan op te hang met ʼn boksie onderaan as geskenk. In die boksie is ʼn perspexring vir die dames en ʼn tradisionele silwer amandel vir mans.
Kanya-Cilla Hunt van The Hunt House Kitchen het ʼn tweelaagkoek gemaak van dekadente donkersjokolade onder en wortel en amandels bo. Die twee lae word met bande sjokolade wat geel gekleur is versier en met spinsuiker afgerond.
Voorbeeld nommer twee se tema is ‘local is lekker’.

Ons het by Lucky Store restaurant in Stellenbosch ingeval omdat jy hier voel asof jy in ouma se kombuis kuier. Aleit het ʼn vrolike, amper lawwe tafel gedek wat ons land se gesellige atmosfeer en reënboog-gevoel naboots. Verskillende kleure en teksture is gebruik vir dié een.

Sarah was weer met papier doenig en hierdie keer maak sy horingkies om wegneem lekkergoed in te sit.
Vir die blomme het Alwyn ʼn houtplank met etniese materiaal oorgetrek en rooi lint daarop vasgekram. In die lint word kleurvolle blomme gedruk en dit word teen ʼn muur opgesit om plek op die tafel te bespaar.
Die koek is gemaak deur Alex Biess van Charly’s Bakery in Kaapstad. Prettig is beslis ʼn goeie woord om die Deense nageregstyl sjokoladekoek te beskryf met sy helder Afrika-rooi, oranje en pienk versiering. Woorde wat met liefde geassosieer word is op die middelste laag geskryf en hartjies en madeliefies van fondant rond dit af. Deesdae weer in die mode is bruid-en-bruidegompoppies, maar hulle is beslis meer funky as voorheen.
Die derde styl het ʼn outydse, klassieke gevoel en word gehou by Hawksmoor Huis. Dis ʼn lieflike Kaaps-Hollandse gastehuis op die plaas Matjieskuil naby Stellenbosch. Maar, die plan is eintlik dat jy dit net sowel in jou eie huis of jou ma s’n kan hou. By hierdie een word al die stoppe uitgeruk vir ʼn oordadige stylvolheid.
Die tafel kreun onder kristalglase, antieke eetgerei, borde en kraffies. Met hierdie soort tafel hoef alles nie noodwendig pasmaats te wees nie. Outydse vonkelwynglase bring bietjie nostalgie en lang kerse in kandelare gee hoogte en trek die oog na die pragtige glaskandelare bokant die tafel.
Wade van der Merwe van Cakes by Wade was die man wat ʼn klassieke dog romantiese koek moes konsepsualiseer en maak. Die koek is wit met swart patrone op. Hy draai ʼn lint om om dit ʼn regte antieke gevoel te gee en rond dit af met eetbare blinkers.
Alwyn se blomme is onkonvensioneel met ʼn sagte gevoel. Hy het ʼn verskeidenheid antieke & nuwe silwer houers gebruik waarin dit half terloops gerangskik word. Papierdetail behels antieke waaiers en pragtige boksies met ʼn geskenkie in. Trou of tuisonthaal – beslis blink planne en goeie rede om ʼn klomp kuiers te reël.

Meet the happy couple
Annemie and Mitch are finally getting married is Stellenbosch on the 17th of January! They are planning their ceremony in the University Art Gallery, which was a church way back in the 1920s, but is currently used for student art exhibitions. Their reception will be held at Rosé Restaurant, which has a “platteland” feel with lots of textures – raw bricks, wood, ceramics, glass, and fabric. The look will be very botanical and bohemian with layers of found objects, vintage books, plants – all grouped together cleverly by the many fabulous stylists currently working on the project:
Alwyn from Okasie is the creative aesthetic behind many of our favourite ideas for the wedding so far – thank you Alwyn!! – and will be bringing the all important floral element to our big day.
With Elsje as part of the creative team, we can be sure that there will be nothing ordinary about this celebration! Her continuous stream of fresh ideas is such an inspiration – from hand-stitched Save the Dates to canvas printed menus to calligraphy and origami, she is bringing the layered look to the entire wedding with paper art to die for!!
Annemie’s mom is a sourceress of anything unique and out-of-the-ordinary to make the décor on the day really interesting. She has also taken on the giant task of hand-making napkins and table cloths and of course provides invaluable emotional support to the bride-to-be!!
We look forward to sharing more of the thoughts and processes on the way to the wedding to everyone!
